Privacy Policy

This policy explains what Valtrium LLC (“sheriffpicks,” “we”) collects when you use sheriffpicks.ai, why, who we share it with, and what control you have over it. We tried to keep it short and direct — if anything is unclear, email human@sheriffpicks.ai.

1. The short version

  • We collect what we need to run the service — nothing more.
  • We don’t sell your data, ever.
  • You can see, export, or delete your account at any time.
  • We use a few trusted vendors to host, run, and measure the site — they only see what they need to do their job.

2. What we collect

From sign-in (via Google)

  • Your name and email address from your Google profile;
  • A user ID we generate to link your data together (we don’t see your Google password).

From using the site

  • The picks you save;
  • Your weekly-roundup email preference (opt-in).

Automatically, as you browse

  • Pages you view and things you click — including which picks you open and the outbound “Visit” links you follow (used to understand what’s useful and improve the feed);
  • Approximate location (from IP), device and browser type, and standard request logs;
  • Cookies: an authentication cookie that keeps you signed in (HTTP-only), and analytics cookies for product and traffic analytics.

3. Why we collect it

  • Run the service: sign you in and show your saved picks.
  • Improve the product: understand which picks and features get used so we know what to build and how to curate better. We use aggregated, not individual, behavior wherever possible.
  • Send the roundup: if you opt in, we email you a weekly roundup. You can turn this off any time by clicking unsubscribe in the email.
  • Prevent abuse: identify scraping, fraud, and account takeover.
  • Comply with the law: respond to lawful requests and enforce our Terms.

4. Who we share with

We don’t sell or rent your personal data. We share it with a small set of vendors that help us run the service:

  • Supabase — database & authentication; stores your account, profile, and saved picks.
  • Google — processes sign-in via Google OAuth. Google sees your sign-in attempt; we don’t see your Google password.
  • PostHog — product analytics; captures page views and interaction events tied to your user ID, used to understand and improve the product.
  • Google Analytics — aggregate traffic analytics (how people find and move through the site).
  • Cloudflare — hosting & CDN; processes request logs for security and performance.

We may also share data if compelled by law (subpoena, court order), or if we sell or transfer the business — in that case the buyer takes on the same obligations in this policy.

5. Your choices and rights

You can update or delete your account at any time. To request a copy of your data or to permanently delete your account, email human@sheriffpicks.ai from the email address on your account. We’ll respond within 30 days. You can also opt out of analytics cookies through your browser’s settings or a “Do Not Track” signal.

6. If you’re in the EU, UK, or Switzerland (GDPR)

Our legal bases for processing are: contract (we need this data to provide the service you signed up for), legitimate interest (analytics and fraud prevention — balanced against your rights), and consent (the weekly roundup, which you can withdraw any time).

You have the right to access, correct, delete, port, restrict, or object to processing of your data, and to lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority. Email human@sheriffpicks.ai to exercise any of these. Your data is processed in the United States by our vendors, under appropriate safeguards (Standard Contractual Clauses).

7. If you’re in California (CCPA / CPRA)

In the last 12 months we collected the categories listed in Section 2. We do not sell or share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising. You have the right to know what we collect, to delete it, to correct it, and to not be discriminated against for exercising these rights. Email human@sheriffpicks.ai to exercise them.

8. Children

sheriffpicks is for people 13 and older. We don’t knowingly collect data from anyone under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has signed up, email human@sheriffpicks.ai and we’ll delete the account.

9. How we keep your data safe

Transport is encrypted (HTTPS). Access controls restrict each user to their own data. Our vendors maintain recognized security certifications (SOC 2 / ISO 27001 or equivalent). No system is perfectly secure — if we learn of a breach affecting your data, we’ll notify you and the relevant regulators as required by law.

10. How long we keep it

  • Profile data: while your account is open; deleted within 30 days of account closure (longer if we’re required to retain it by law).
  • Logs & analytics: up to 12 months in identifiable form, then aggregated.
  • Backups: may persist up to 30 days past deletion before they roll off.

11. Changes

If we change this policy, we’ll post the updated version here and, for material changes, post a notice on the site or email you. Continued use after the change means you accept it.
